Scotland is #13 in FIFA rankings
By: Ian Rose | October 24th, 2007Another nice milestone for the Scottish national team. One month after rising to #14 in the FIFA World Rankings, our highest-ever position, Scotland has risen one more position to #13 in the world. Of just as much interest to Scotland fans is the fact that while Scotland rose, England fell and now sits only two positions above Scotland at 11th place. The really important ranking is now only one month away. Next month’s ranking is the one that will be used to determine seeding for the UEFA World Cup qualifiers. If the seeding was decided today, here would be the first two seeded pools:
Pool 1: Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, Czech Republic, Croatia, England
Pool 2: Romania, Scotland, Greece, Russia, Poland, Norway, Ukraine, Sweden, Serbia
All this means that Scotland are almost assured of a second seed in the World Cup qualifiers, a huge step up from the fourth seed we got in the Euro 2008 draw. Scotland would have to drop to 28th place to drop into the third pool, and with most of the active and successful Euro 2008 teams already ahead of us, I just can’t see that happening. More than any other individual result this year, the World Cup qualifying 2-seed is really a huge milestone. Now we have to make sure, when the qualies come, we play like we deserve it.

Just arrived from the Catedral.
Told you we would win.
Bynia was obviously everywhere (this guy was dicovered playing in the algerian championship - how much did you pay for Gravensen?), although a little tired at the end of the game. Cardozo oppened his championship account. And Di Maria… superb
Congrats to Celtic - Amazing fans - Unlike those arrogant Man Utd prics who visited our sacred field in the last two years.
As for the biggest club in the world - Of course we are, it is even in the Guiness Book of Records…Posted from

Nice win for Benfica. I would argue with Benfica being the biggest club in the world, but I’m talking about results - I’m not sure how the Guinness Book measures it. Oh well. You deserved the win, and I’m glad to hear the fans were good. I think the result will be hugely different at Celtic Park, but we’ll see.
