Brew Monday for Craig

By: Craig | October 24th, 2006

_41582856_craigbrewsterhead2031.jpgSome managerial marriages seem to be made in heaven. Think Glenn Hoddle at Spurs, Kenny Dalglish at Celtic, Franck Sauzée at Hibs. Yet all of these have something in common: complete failure.

When Craig Brewster was appointed Dundee United manager in January, the Arabs were understandably convinced that the dark days were over. Fan since birth? Check. First club? Check. Winnning goal in Scottish Cup final? Check. Promising start in the dugout with SPL team? Check.

But with Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen bringing Brewster’s tally to just two victories in 27 league games, the Tannadice club find themselves rock-bottom of the table — and let’s just say Valdas Ivanauskas wasn’t the only top-flight boss in showdown talks yesterday. Eddie Thomson — Scotland’s Most Ruthless Grocer (TM) — apparently is none too pleased and even the fan message boards are unleashing the dreaded vote of confidence.
