Brown looks to go to Celtic
By: Ian Rose | May 15th, 2007After being linked to at least four Premiership sides, the Scotsman is now reporting that Scott Brown will be signed to Celtic today, for a transfer fee of £4.4 million, and a salary over £25,000 per week. Brown has been the most closely followed transfer candidate in Scotland, possibly along with Jason Scotland of St. Johnstone, since he announced his intention to leave Hibs in January.
Celtic fans will get an early look at their new midfielder, assuming the signing goes through, when Brown and Hibs travel to Parkhead this weekend.
As I’ve said before, I would have preferred to see Brown go to England, both for the good of the SPL’s reputation and that of the Scottish national side, but Celtic’s pockets were just too deep, and it looks like Brownie will be headed to Glasgow this summer.
