Get your malicious gossip here

doors.jpgIf you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, goes the old adage, and with the papers today only interested in the January sales, here’s an update on how the revolving doors are poised to be swing.

First up, those Russell Anderson rumours just won’t go away. Scouts from three Premiership clubs were in Edinburgh on Tuesday to watch him keeping the sheets clean. This being his testimonial year, you could argue that he’s earned a crack at the big time, though the Dons fans would lose a club legend.

One of Anderson’s international colleagues, Nigel Quashie, is being eyed up by West Ham, who want to get him back up in the Premiership in a bid to save them from the drop. Chances are, he’ll pull them right back down: he’s been relegated with four teams.

Of course, you can’t mention Premiership-bound Scots without some reference to Bazza. Everton and Villa are both watching his situation with interest, but it looks more likely by the hour that he’ll stay at Ibrox after all. He returned to training yesterday and the family side of things may cause him to stay put. A third way being mooted today is that he could stay at Rangers but lose the captaincy.

Barely a week goes by without some kind of speculation over Scotty McDonald and this time Championship side Southend are in with a bid for the slayer of Celtic.

Finally, not everyone is looking south for work this week. Falkirk star Alan Gow is being pursued by Hibs, Aberdeen, Celtic and Wolves, but it appears Ibrox would be his destination of choice. Mind you, if they get their way this week, he might struggle to get a start.

I’m not yet a follower of Scottish football, but I have to say I LOVE the name “Nigel Quashie.” In fact, I think I want to BE a Nigel Quashie.
