Good luck to our Irish friends at Drogheda
By: Ian Rose | July 23rd, 2008Not much going on in Scotland today football-wise. Some friendlies, the best of which is probably Motherwell-Wolves … but we can take this opportunity to refocus our interest on our friends to the southwest in Ireland. Drogheda United is involved in their first-ever Champions League qualification, and has a chance today to move on to the second qualifying round. They beat Levadia Tallinn of Estonia 2-1 in the opening leg in Ireland, and they face a tough trip to hold onto their lead. Good luck, lads.
The home nations need to stick together in Europe, and with Ulster and Wales already faltering in the CL qualifying, and Hibs out of the Intertoto Cup, we should all get behind Drogheda.
Mon the Boynesiders!
