Gordon to Villa?
By: Ian Rose | May 21st, 2007Now that the SPL season is over, it’s time for the summer transfer season to officially begin, and one of the hottest unsigned talents in Scotland is Hearts and Scotland keeper Craig Gordon. Gordon’s been ready to leave Hearts, and the Vlad Romanov show, for months now, and has been linked to at least four English Premiership sides. The latest to seem realistic is Aston Villa. There was a widespread internet rumor this weekend that Gordon was being offered £8 million by none other than EPL champs Manchester United, but with the depth United has at the keeper position (Van der Sar, Kuszczak, and the very talented Ben Foster), it seems very unlikely. If Villa wants Craig, they are going to have to pay for him, though - coach Steven Frail puts his transfer value at £10 million. Hibs are reportedly still interested, and Hibs boss John Collins is reportedly down to his last two goalkeeper candidates, so if a move to Easter Road is going to happen, it’s likely to happen soon. Hibs would love to get Gordon, who would make up a bit for losing their star, Scott Brown, to Celtic, but time will tell if they can pay the toll.

Villa would be a better fit for him than Manchester United. I’m excited to see him in the EPL.
