Hearts lose another gaffer
By: Ian Rose | March 20th, 2007Hearts coach Valdas Ivanauskas has left the club “by mutual consent”, which is about the kindest euphemism possible for a squad that has lost 4 coaches in two years. There are no words for how embarrassing and sad the situation is at Midlothian these days. Oh, I guess sad and embarrassing are words for it, perfect words in fact. I stand corrected. Hearts is in absolute shambles, and sits in fourth place now by only five points over a Hibernian side that is arguably better, and certainly has better leadership. While Hibs had a weekend to remember, gathering their first silverware in 16 years in a romp of a league cup final, Hearts lost a dismal match 4-0 to Dundee United. The slide will continue for Hearts, and their only saving grace may be that the season break is so close. A few more weeks of competition, and we might have seen just how low they could sink. For now, though, what coach with any self-respect is going to take this job? Wanted: World-class football coach to work for insane Lithuanian investment mogul. Must be available for, oh, about six months, at which time said boss will spout off something about monkeys and send you away. Watch as the resumes fly in.
