Irvine takes the bullet for the City Slackers
By: Craig | December 12th, 2006
There’s a price to pay for being Scotland’s worst league team and today ex-Scotland and Aberdeen defender Brian Irvine did so with his job. Six points adrift at the foot of Division Three, a repeat of last year’s fifth position is a pipe dream for Elgin City. More humiliatingly, they’re a full six points behind perennial Third Division propper-uppers, East Stirling. Drastic action had to be taken and sadly it’s happened to one of Scottish football’s nice guys – not to mention, one of Robert Patrick’s best doppeldangers.
