League Cup fixtures, tonight and tomorrow
By: Ian Rose | September 25th, 2007The third round of the CIS Cup is upon us, with four matches tonight and four tomorrow. There are 16 teams left in Scotland’s league cup, including all but one of the 12 SPL sides (St. Mirren is out), 4 teams from the first division, and one (mighty East Fife) from the third division, Scotland’s fourth-tier league. The Fifers face a rough task ahead as they take on Rangers tomorrow. Celtic will try to get back into the winning habit away at Dundee, and the SPL bottom two, Inverness and Gretna, face off for the first time this season. In all, at least three SPL sides will be eliminated this round due to all-SPL ties, but with an SPL side in every match, the possibility remains of an all-Premier quarterfinal round. Here are the fixtures:
Tuesday, 25 September:
Falkirk v. Dundee United
Hamilton v. Kilmarnock
Hearts v. Dunfermline
Inverness CT v. Gretna
Wednesday, 26 September:
Dundee v. Celtic
East Fife v. Rangers
Hibernian v. Motherwell
Partick Thistle v. Aberdeen
