Meet Scott McDonald

Ladies and gentlemen, the next star of Scottish football. Well, actually, he’s one of the current stars of Scottish football, but nobody knows it, because he plays for Motherwell. Oh, and like so many of the other stars of the league (Nakamura, Boruc, Novo, etc.), he’s not Scottish. The Aussie has been Motherwell’s shining star, their one beacon of scoring in an otherwise lackluster season that finds them only three places from the bottom of the SPL. And, like the stars of most small Scottish teams eventually all do, he’s heading to Celtic. He was bought for 700,000 pounds last month, and will be leaving at the end of the season, piling on the woe for Motherwell fans who have seen their share of losses WITH the exciting striker. Without him, they face a season of gloom unless a suitable replacement can be found. For those of you that don’t watch the SPL on a weekly basis, you’ll get a chance to see Scott in next season’s Celtic European campaign.
