Scotland 3-1 Ukraine: Two matches to go
By: Ian Rose | October 13th, 2007Well, even a broken clock is right twice a day. I predicted a 3-1 win for the Scots at home to Ukraine, and a 3-1 win is what we got. James McFadden, the hero of our away win over France, was once again absolutely golden, netting a goal for himself after setting up the other two. Lee McCulloch and Kenny Miller both bulged the basket in the first ten minutes, putting the Ukrainians on their back foot from the start. It was a more dangerous match than a lot of people realized, but it’s a great win and now Scotland is two matches from Euro glory. With Italy and France both winning today, we still need four points from those two matches to be completely assured of victory. A win on Wednesday over Georgia will mean that a draw with Italy will be enough to qualify. It’s so close. We can almost see the European Championships on the horizon, but there’s still work to be done and Alex McLeish will be sure to keep his boys from looking too far beyond Wednesday’s match away at Georgia.
Great win for Scotland. Alba Gu Brath!
