Scotland in Europe - Even the Partizans ain’t fussed

By: Craig | December 14th, 2006

blade-runner.jpgAs I write, Rangers are just about to kick off in their last pre-Christmas game in Europe (it’s nice to be able to phrase it like that) against Partizan Belgrade. Like Celtic, they’ve secured qualification - indeed first place - already. The fact the game is going ahead is testimony to the Rangers groundstaff as Glasgow today was like a scene from Blade Runner. Indeed, one of the papers confirmed that we are indeed witnessing apocalyptic scenes - yesterday was our fortieth day and night with rain.

With everything in place for the knockout stages, PLG has one eye on Sunday’s Old Firm match at Ibrox. Exhibit A: in only his tenth appearance this season, Gavin Rae replaces Barry Ferguson as captain.

More on Sunday’s shenanigans tomorrow.
