Scotland in Europe - Le Guen welcomed back to the fraternité

By: Craig | November 23rd, 2006

auldalliance.jpgRonjers are looking to maintain their 100% record in the Uefa Cup tonight under a visibly more relaxed Paul Le Guen. If not quite steadied, the SPL ship has at least been dislodged from the ocean surface in the last couple of weeks. Added to that the Gers’ progress in foreign climes this season and you understand why Le Guen can afford more of a smile these days.

More importantly, though, it’s his first trip back across the Channel since taking the Ibrox reins and yesterday Le Guen faced up to his old sparring partners - and colleagues - in the Gallic media. With such an outstanding domestic record at Lyon - Auxerre never got the better of Le Guen in his three years there - and a squad littered with experience in Froggyland’s footballing backwaters, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for Rangers fans to expect qualification to be sealed tonight.
