Scotland-Italy rugby a preview of Euro 2008?
By: Ian Rose | September 29th, 2007Scotland v. Italy. Winner goes to the next round. Sound familiar?
Today, it wasn’t Euro 2008 qualifying, but the Rugby World Cup, and Scotland just barely beat Italy 18-16 to continue their record of making the quarterfinal of every Rugby World Cup they’ve competed in.
A close win in front of a mostly Scottish crowd, won mainly on penalties. I’d take that result again when Scotland hosts Italy in Euro qualifying on November 17th. Unfortunately, I heard somewhere that Italy plays football just a little better than they play rugby. Oh well.

18-16? How lame is that? If they don’t win by at least 100 points, they didn’t win.
It was kind of fun being in Paris for the start of the RWC. I’m fascinated by the France player Chabal. Because that Neanderthal thing? Yeah.
Hey, as a Scots fan you should stop by Pitch Invasion and check out my writeup about the Scottish fans for the France-Scotland game. They made the game far less depressing than it would otherwise have been. http://pitchinvasion.net/blog/2007/09/28/an-american-in-paris-with-scots/
