Scottish Cup semis: Celtic is getting used to waiting
By: Ian Rose | April 15th, 2007First, a disappointing run made Celtic wait another few weeks to officially claim this year’s SPL title. Now, they’ll have to wait to see who they’ll be playing for the Scottish Cup next month as well. After the Bhoys sneaked past surprising first-division St. Johnstone 2-1 on Saturday, they, like the rest of Scotland, intently watched today’s Hibs-Dunfermline semifinal. With the terrible play and internal conflicts for Hibernian in the past month, Pars could smell an upset, and in a way, today’s 0-0 draw was an upset. Hibs were once such a clear favorite that a draw seemed out of reach for Pars, but not anymore. Dunfermline had the better chances, and looked more likely to score, and when the fixture is replayed on April 24th, I think it very well might be Dunfermline that takes it, setting up the ultimate Cinderella final - first against last in the SPL, with the Scottish Cup on the line. For now, though, Celtic will go back to concentrating on winning that last game and wrapping up what seemed not so long ago to be a cake-walk of an SPL championship.
