Sproule and Anderson go to England
By: Ian Rose | June 27th, 2007Two big-name SPL players are headed to England today, as Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson is bought up by new Prem side Sunderland for £1 million, and Ivan Sproule, everyone’s favorite dancing Hibee, is reportedly off to Bristol City and the fizzy drink Championship of England.
I hate to see both of these players go. Anderson, in a class move that comes as no surprise to his fans in and around Aberdeen, donated all of his transfer fee to youth development for the club. Since I like to see Scots in the Premiership, I can deal with the loss of Anderson, but Sproule guts me a little. I’ve been a big fan of Ivan’s during his time at Easter Road, and I’ll be pulling for Bristol City, as much as I pull for any Championship side.
Good luck to both Ivan and Russell in England, and to Ivan in his Northern Ireland Euro 2008 campaign come Fall. You two are part of someone else’s blogospheres now (Sunderland and the Championship).
Thanks to JT at the Celtic Offside for the heads-up on Sproule.
