The Tartan Army’s Disco Embassy
By: Ian Rose | March 26th, 2007Unfortunately, as the long international break for the SPL continues, there’s not much choice but to focus on the national team. Fortunately, on the other hand, focusing on said national side can, for now, be considered an act of pride, where in the past, it has been more along the lines of masochism (see coverage of current English national side for a similar feeling). As Scotland swells with pride over our lead in the group of death for Euro 2008, we welcome today’s announcement that over 5,000 loyal Tartan Army faithful will descend on Bari for Wednesday’s vital match with Italy. Not only that, but the famous fans of Scotland now have one more embassy than the nation of Scotland does. A special fan embassy has been set up in, get this, a local discobar. What could be better than popping and locking in a kilt? Take it from an experienced wearer – the range of motion is impeccable, though it might leave a bit less to the imagination than the locals would appreciate. This is, to my knowledge, the first fan embassy Scotland has ever set up, and really is, all jokes aside, a great step in supporting our fans in international matches, which can only be a good thing.
