The Top Flight Tussle

010002292227100-1.jpgA difficult choice this weekend, with three matches being contested between sides just a position away from one another. Kilmarnock travel to Edinburgh hoping to defend their top-half status against 7th-placed Hibs. But new Hibees boss John Collins has been doing his homework on dugout rival Jim Jefferies for years. Meanwhile on Monday evening, Inverness can leapfrog Aberdeen into fourth with a home win.

But Celtic v Hearts just edges it, because the focal point of any league is its title race - if title race is indeed what we have. Let’s be frank. If we are to expect anything like a meaningful contest this year, then it’s quite simple: Hearts must win. A ten point gap at this stage of proceedings is bad, but 13 would be unthinkable. Though a Rangers victory at Tannadice on Sunday would see them leapfrog the Jambos, Celtic would remain 12 points ahead of the chasing pack.

The Hoops will surely not sink to the levels of Wednesday night. And the way they’ve been playing recently, Hearts might need a bit more help from the ref than they got last time they visited Parkhead. It’s make or break time.
