The Top Flight Tussle – Aberdeen v Rangers
By: Craig | December 22nd, 2006
It’s Christmas time and all ye faithful of Ibrox are coming to the Highlands for the holidays. After this, it’s off to Inverness for the Boxing Day game. Back in June when the fixtures were drawn up, the Gers fans were raging, adamant that they’d been treated in an excremental manner. Or something to that effect. The weather’s looking not too bad for the next few days, so the hoped-for call-offs don’t look like coming.
Anyway, the last time these two met, in October, a rare species made his mark on the proceedings. Officially entitled Expensivus Slovakius Diddius, the rest of us know him as Filip Sebo.
Yep, the ten other SPL sides – not to mention Uefa Cup opponents – have come and gone in Rangers’ fixture list without so much as a sniff from the Slovak. Maybe seeing red will give him back his fire. Or maybe I’ll get a Ferrari down my chimney.
More importantly since then, the Dons have won eight of their ten league matches, are two clear points clear of their Weegie enemies lying in third and despite Rangers’ impressive showing last week against their Weegie enemies you have to rate the hosts as marginal favourites for this one, not the ideal situation for their gaffer, who must be dreaming of that Christmas break he used to get. A gaping five-point gap, added to increasing dressing-room unrest, and, oh what fun, he will abide the press corps’ open slay!
