Zeta beats Kaunas, will face Rangers in CL
By: Ian Rose | July 24th, 2007It was a nice story while it lasted. Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov, unable to reach any European competition after a rough SPL season, takes his other team, Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas, to the Champions League, where they have only one tie to win before they face Romanov’s SPL rivals Rangers in the second qualifying round. FK Zeta, on paper, was a minor obstacle on the way.
Zeta saw it a little differently. The champions of Montenegro, in their first-ever Champions League qualifying matches, took out Kaunas 5-4 on aggregate (3-1, 2-3), and will face Rangers in Glasgow on July 31. Hopefully Rangers, who have no league fixtures before that date, will be able to put all of their new faces in order by then, and advance as they should to the third and final qualifying round.

Sorry our website calls your location “Serbia and Montenegro”. Montenegro is an independent country now and hopefully someday the IP checker will be updated with your location and national flag. Congrats to Zeta - Rangers will be a tough test for you, but the win over Kaunas was a good one.
